White Sesam

Appearance:

Sesame can be divided into five main types Whitish, Mixed, Reddish, Black and Golden.

Main growing countries:

Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Tchad, Senegal, India, Myanmar and China.

Used for:

It is either hulled and then eaten as a seed in bakery and confectionary products, or crushed to make oil or as an ingredient in sesame paste (tahini).

Sesame seed is a traditional ingredient in Asian and Middle Eastern countries where it is part of many recipes: Tahini (base ingredient for Hummus), Goma Dare/Zhi Ma Jiang (Japanese/Chinese dipping sauce), Halva (sesame cake), in many Asian dishes as flavouring oil (Japanese tempura, Chinese noodle),it is also used in pastry and bakery over the world (burger buns).

Sesame is cultivated in all tropical regions around the world, but the main producing regions are Asia and Africa.

Appearance:

Main ones are Whitish, Mixed, Golden.

Main growing countries:

Mauritania, Senegal, Mali, Burkina Faso, Niger, Nigeria, Chad, Cameroon, Sudan, Eritrea, Somalia, Ethiopia, Kenya, and Tanzania. With Sudan being one of the biggest export partner.

Used for:

This Gum serves many purposes, but his mostly known for it’s use in the Health, Food, Art, Ceramic-and Pyrotechnic Industries.

Food uses over the world:

Gum arabic is used in the food industry as a stabiliser, emulsifying agent, and thickening agent in icing, fillings, soft candy, chewing gum, and other confectionery,[15] and to bind the sweeteners and flavourings in soft drinks.[16] A solution of sugar and gum arabic in water, gomme syrup, is sometimes used in cocktails to prevent the sugar from crystallising and provide a smooth texture.

    Gum arabic is a non-timber forest product produced in the countries of the Sahelian strip (from Senegal to Ethiopia) between the 250 and 800 mm rainfall isohyets. The Senegal acacia (tree 2 to 10m high), is a Sahelian and Sudano-Sahelian species, presented in 250 and 600mm sometimes on lithosols but prefers sandy soils. Species very resistant to drought (8 to 11 months without rain).

    Appearance:

    The three main species are Arthrospira platensis, A. fusiformis, and A. maxima. The colors can range from light blue to dark green depending on the process it has undergone.

    Main growing locations:

    It’s mostly found in Tropical and subtropical regions. Ours is harvest it from Lake Chad in the African nation of Chad.

    Used for Nutrition:

    Dried spirulina contains 5% water, 24% carbohydrates, 8% fat, and about 60% (51–71%) protein .
